Weekly Safety Tip

As the weather is now improving, this is the ideal time to take a walk with your child around the neighborhood or your child’s route to school. Point out landmarks and “safe areas” where your child can go if they feel threatened, are being followed or need help. Also define clearly where they are and are not allowed to go, which neighbors they may visit and which areas you want them to avoid.

This Week “Action / Reaction”and Drill’s, Drills, Drills!

Plan on getting lots of reps this week as we work basic reactionary drills designed to keep you in action time. This week’s focus will be on the relationship between Action / Reaction and how to stay in action time. We will also be working drills to get ahead of the reactionary curve and put uke in reaction time!

Sempai teaches the 1st Certain Victory Fireams Training class to Checkmate Martial Arts family and friends on 4-23-2011. A wet, cold, and thoroughly enjoyable day. The weather at the SIG Arms Academy range couldn’t dampen the spirits of these dedicated martial artists!

An epic beginning! Great training by Steve Gilcreast, and a great group of people. At the end of the day, an exuberant, but exhausted, 1st graduating class.

Everyone was excited to sign up for their next class with Steve Gilcreast, teaching the Vickers Shooting Method.

Checkmate Holiday Party – 01-15-2011

Family fun at the Checkmate Martial Arts holiday party on 01-15-2011. Kids had a great time with pads and mats, and adults amused themselves by balancing chocolate chip cookies on thier faces!
