It was quite and eventful day during the Dave Castoldi Jujitsu Seminar today.
Master Leigh, Sempai Steve and Sensei Nate all received Award certificates. Master Leigh received his 5th degree, godan, Small Circle Jujitsu black belt certificate signed by Wally Jay. Steve and Nate received a rank certificate from Professor Castoldi.
Sempai Steve was promoted to 2nd degree black belt (nidan) by Master Leigh.
Maria was promoted to sankyu Brown Belt. (and was thrown forcefully by five black belts… Lucky Maria!)
Oh yes, there was excellent jujitsu demonstrated and practiced (with great enthusiasm) by all in attendance. The calls of “Mattee! Break! Break!” were frequent an loud. (but no jujistuka was injured…)

Congratulations Jeff on being promoted by Sensei Leigh to jujitsu orange belt on 8-16-2010. I had a great selection of shots to pick from, and the attached photo gallery shows some of the highlights from Jeff’s test.

The test was challenging! It pushed everyone to a new level. I am very proud of all of you for your achievement and performance. It has been a long journey to get to this point and I look forward to promoting all of you to the rank of Shodan in the near future! Keep up the great work and keep walking through the door! I would also like to extend a special thanks to all of you that played a part in the test. Without your collective participation it would not have been possible to have such and outstanding test!

Congratulations John, Jose, Brian, Mike and Richard! Five new brown Belts in one day! It was a wonderful day for the dojo, and a great demonstration of jujitsu.
Thanks to all the Checkmate Martial Arts students who turned out for you. I think the size of the turnout (on a Saturday morning at 7:30) says everything about the regard and respect which your fellow students feel towards you.
